I have pictures of my grandad John Edwin Whitaker installing the 100 BHP bates heavy oil enignes in the Air compressors at Port Said in Egypt in 1915 -1916. He worked for Mr Webb of Ajax motors when he was 19 yrs old and designed his first engine. He went to Baku for some time and i have no idea what he did there but he must have been involved with engines because my dad says that the people there had no instuments and when he left he gave them all he had.He was in Gent in 1913 for La Galerie Deis machines
