Mirrlees Blackstone - Ownership

 

On 8th May 1977, the Company was acquired by GEC - ALSTHOM and is now part of their diesels division.

On 22nd June 1998 the parent Company's, GEC (English) and Alcatel (French) floated 56% of their holdings in GEC ALSTHOM on the Paris, new York and London Stock Exchanges.

Together with the recent merger of CEGELEC, the newly formed Company became known as ALSTOM (without an h).

Mirrlees Blackstone became part of the restructured Engines division along with Ruston Diesels, Paxman Diesels, Regulateurs Europa, the Stamford foundry and the overseas subsidiaries.

Since the take-over by GEC-ALSTHOM production at Stockport concentrated on the K Major and MB 430, in particular the development of an inline MB430 was confirmed and a decision to build an MB 430 18 cylinder by April 1999 was taken.
